Ian Dickinson West Australian Artist

Ian Dickinson – Artist Profile

Ian Dickinson was brought up on a farming property near Murchison in Victoria. He has a Diploma in Art (Industrial Design) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, (RMIT). Following twelve years of employment as a graphic designer and illustrator for Government and Corporate employers, he became a freelance illustrator and moved to North West Cape, Western Australia, in 1988, then to the Perth hills where he has lived since 1996. His style has emerged from illustrative and representational to one where paintings are freer in concept and design.

His paintings have a sense of place. They begin with the simplification of the landscape and are then embellished with textures and design elements.

He has had many solo exhibitions, mainly at Yallingup Galleries, but also with Gallows Gallery in Mossman Park WA, and at Without Pier Gallery in Cheltenham, Victoria. His paintings are in private collections in Australia as well as North America, Europe, UK and China.

He paints from home in Roleystone
